Wonderful dining experience. Faith was attentive server, food was delicious, and atmosphere was romantic. Perfect for our anniversary celebration! The 110 was definitely the “celebratory cocktail that was luxury in every sip”.
Stopped in for lunch and had a lovely time. Service was fantastic and the food was somehow even better. We arrived shortly after opening on their first day of a new summer menu, and so our crab dip took just minutes longer to come out. We didn’t mind the brief wait at all but the chef comped the dip for us anyways. The cocktails were also great.
Perfect place for a special occasion dinner. We are from the Columbus area, and travel to The Alcove for anniversaries, birthdays, etc. The food is fantastic and the service is truly unmatched. I will say that the asparagus is always a bit overcooked for my liking - but you will never find a better meal in Ohio at this price point, hands down. The dinner shows are a great time, too!
I think the Alcove has stepped up their game recently and is worth another shot if you’ve tried before and thought otherwise. The food was great and the staff were attentive but not overbearing. I LOVE their cocktail menu right now and recommend their French 74. LOVE. We made reservations which I recommend for a weekend.
Came to MV for a day trip. Lunched here. Lobster roll is fabulous, even the fries are perfect. Waitress kept bumping into my seat, and she was not happy when I showed her price of the beer $5 on the website menu. She told me $6.50. She put the bottle of my beer straight onto the bar table. I asked for a glass to pour it myself. I still tipped her above 25%. Hope she’s happy.
A dreary January day turned into a memorable experience at the Alcove with my two friends. Food was wonderful (lunch) and waiter was on top of everything without being pushy. Plus, it's a beautiful restaurant!
I had a decent experience. My food was OK. Had the cheddar prime rib. Gravy and toast was delicious, Not nearly enough horseradish sauce and you kind of expect actual prime rib, instead of steak-ums. I'm not upset about it though because for only $15 that's what you're going to get. My friend's fish was over cooked and greasy on the outside and still frozen on the inside. This was after we were informed that they were out of the already "prepared " fish for fish and chips and she said it was fine, just bring a fish sandwich without the bread. Her broccoli was supposed to be buttered and wasn't, and also not seaosned at all. There were no options given for her choice of dressing on her salad. Was just expected to like the house dressing. The server was professional but definitely made us feel as if we complained we would be fulfilling his preconceived notions of how we "look". So we didn't complain at all even though we were far from satisfied and we left him more than a 20% tip because it's the "principle". The drinks were great, loved the quiet and classy atmosphere and our appetizer of Spinach Fromage was wonderful. We loved the music as well. It's been many years since I've came to this establishment, and I absolutely love the new look, we could have dealt with the OK food...but it's beyond ironic when someone who works the same job as you treats you so "professional", yet demeans you. I've heard so many great things about this place so hopefully we just came on an off day, it has a ton of potential.
This will be a critical review meant to encourage this venue toward improvement and not an attempt to nitpick or punch down. I love the general aesthetic of The Alcove, it is clean and it has a formal feel to it without the need for a suit jacket. I attended from out of town in order to see a show in their Dinner Theatre. The show was Steel Magnolias. Firstly, when you arrive you will be directed to an upstairs dining area for the dinner theater attraction. Unfortunately there is no elevator, so if you are disabled or unable to navigate two flights of stairs, do not buy tickets. This information is NOT available on their site and I believe that it should be. Had this been a year ago, I would have needed a refund and would have driven an hour for no reason (due to previous mobility issues). I ordered the prime rib... This comes out standard and is not made to order for you. If you want anything other than unsweetened tea, coffee or water you will have to get it from the bar. The prime rib was alright, it was too pink for me and the whole plate was drowning in meat blood/juice which does not sit with for me. The green beans just didn't taste very good...too earthy. The bread was undercooked but I loved that it came out warm. The seating is abysmal. I'm sorry but the chairs are small and cheap and have very little padding. They're cute but not something you want to sit in for an hour for dinner and then 2hrs for a show. Also you will be expected to eat your entire meal BEFORE the store starts. I don't like this formula because it extends the amount of time it takes to get through the evening. I would recommend the Alcove use quiet dinnerware and serve in the beginning, start the show, clear at intermission and serve dessert. The set was beautifully done. Costumes were great The lighting was great. Sounds effects were great. I loved the actress who played Wheezer. I was a little disappointed in the quality of the performance of the cast in general though and as a result I chose to leave at intermission. When I mention quality I'm referring to line recall, delivery and the casts ability to draw you into the story by their commitment to being in the moment.... It just wasn't there for me. Honestly I'm not sure I would return here because of the accessibility issues and the lack of being able to customize my meal for the dinner theater (outside of choosing steak or chicken when purchasing the tickets). Please include more information regarding what to expect when visiting your venue on the website! Quite a few people came from out of town. Lastly, Cute wallpaper!
